In diesen Webseiten wird die gigantische Gefahr eines Ausbruchs dieser Caldera beschrieben und begründet. Ein starkes Erdbeben (natürlich oder künstlich) oder der Einschlag eines Meteors

könnten die Katastrophe auslösen. Die Zeitspanne von 600'000 Jahren bis zu einem statistisch ge-sehenen neuen Ausbruch ist bereits abgelaufen. Der letzte gigantische Ausbruch eines Supervulkans fand in Sumatra statt, der dort eine Caldera bildete. Und wer die Erdbebentätigkeit in den letzten Monaten etwas verfolgt hat - www.iris.edu/seismon/ - stellte fest, dass die meisten häufigen und star-ken Erdbeben wieder dort stattfanden. Ein genug starkes Erdbeben, welches die Caldera vom Yellowstone Park zum Ausbruch bringen könnte, kann also möglicherweise auch in Sumatra erwartet werden.
